Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program
Brazilian jiu jitsu is a ground fighting martial that focuses on ground fighting techniques such as joint locks and choke holds. We also teach judo and wrestling style takedowns.
This class is for both beginner and advanced students. This program is overseen by the only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt in the Seaway Valley; Professor Stephen Patrick Lefebvre.
Stephen has been studying brazilian jiu jitsu since 2007. He started his jiu jitsu training while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. Prof. Stephen has also spent time learning judo, wreslting, muay thai and mixed martial arts. He has coached his students to tiltles in MMA, BJJ and muay thai. You will be getting the very best instruction from a very knowledgable source.
What to expect when coming to class
Show up early if this is your first class, It is traditional to bow before going on to the mats. Greet the instructor.
The instructor will ask everyone to line up, please do so quietly, once lined up you will show each other respect and bow.
The class will start with a 15 -20 min warm up followed by 45mins of technique training.
After every class there is a randori period where students will roll. This is not mandatory, new students do not need to take part if they don’t feel comfortable.
Academy rules and etiquette:
- show up on time
- greet the instructor
- ensure your belt is tied and uniform is to standard
- toe nails and nails are kept short
- hair is tied up if its long
- no jewlery
- no swearing
- Uniform must be cleaned
- no talking during class
- if you have to leave class early let the instructor know
- if you have a question raise your hand
- ask to use the washroom
- no eating or drinking on the mats
- no shoes on the mats
- respect everyone
